why ?

HDD: IDE 80G , C: FAT32 15GB , free 11GB

USB: 8G , F: FAT32 7.47GB , free 7.47GB

Phase III - Step XVI

Copying of installation failed

cmdCopyInstallation: Copying of installation from C: to F: failed (0x8000FFFF)

Did the error occur during the actual transfer of the files (while the copy progress box was being displayed)?

Or did it occur when the stage "Finishing transfer of files" was being executed?

run new xp os on the new hard disk (C:) , the old hard disk is D: ,
run ' usboot.cmd phase-iii.isc ' , copying installation from D: to F: , no problem.

Okay, this more detailed report of the error information presented on the console gives a good hint on the cause of the problem. wink

But according to your post you already figured this out for yourself.

However nice to see that you succeeded in the end by avoiding the use of volume shadow services.
