Unfortunately in the package there is no user guide except for the QuickStart.txt manual.
If this does not work for you it may be worth to check for some tutorial on the web.

many places, but maybe this can help idk.
Fast Guide for creation of a FULL XP operating system running from a USB stick. (4 gb or higher)
This procedure worked for me, and Gerd is very very generous to allow us to use USboot. Donate!!
1)
Download USBoot_2.10.zip from http://usboot.org/tiki-index.php
2)
Format the USB 2.0 flash drive that you want to install XP onto with fat32, (ntfs is ok later, but not for you yet)
**********
-I recommend you use the free HP usb key format tool for this, it works on almost everything.
I use version 2.0.6 of the "HP USB KEY FORMAT TOOL", but version 2.2.3 will work as well.
SEARCH
http://download.chip.eu/en/
FOR
"USB Disk Storage Format Tool"
-or-
http://download.chip.eu/en/USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool_176935.html?question=208957&tab=3
size ~96k name = HPUSBFW_2.2.3_MASTER.exe
--or--
for the older, reliable one:
http://rapidshare.com/files/94151739/hp_usb_disk_storage_format_tool_v_2_0_6.zip
size 1.18 mb, **do not extract the temp file that comes with this utility, not needed.
**********
3)
On the USBoot site, please read and do the 'Prearrangements & Pretest' test and decide whether to continue.
4)
Make a small fat32 partition on your internal hard drive and install Xp on it.
Specific Notes:
On your internal hard drive (HDD), create a 3.5 gb FAT32 primary partition. then restart and install a barebones XP onto it and don't worry about updating, keep it small. Usually, this new (or 2nd partition) will NOT have boot files, those are going to be found on your 'system partition' or 1st partition. So reboot. Enter your 1st XP partition and copy ntldr, ntdetect.com, boot.ini and all single files in the root of C:\ to your 2nd partiton's root. Only copy files under 2 mb, no pagefile's please, lol!
You may not need these files but you never know, and usually they wont hurt.
5)
Now restart and boot back into your 2nd partition. Turn off paging file & hibernation. restart. Install net card drivers.
You need to be able to get online. Maybe install critical drivers if its running too slow. Then print\read the steps of the USBoot_2.10\Readme.txt section 3 USAGE.
Do no start yet.
6)
This step is critical, dont try to use Ewf yet. (you will never need the write filter if you are using a powered external HD like Western Digita1 320 gb myBook) And for a small XP install on modern computers, you can do alright without the EWF filter.

Well maybe this should have come earlier, here are the specific options that you should use, from a good guide/forum:
quote:
"then you could now reboot to your usb hard drive.
once in windows go to the usboot folder that is on you internal hard drive and double click on the command script
"cmd_here.cmd", from here follow the procedure to get the response code ( that why you need the internet connection ) by copy
right behind it "USBoot phase-I".
the procedure will start, i have made you a little guide of the procedure you have to do, here it is:
Installation of the USBoot driverguard YES
Installation of a generic HAL YES
Disabling of SFC for replaced driver files (be carreful to have sfc already disable in windows otherwise it will not work, don't ask me why i don't know, i made an xp cd with sfc disable already using nlite to it)
YES
PRESS SPACE TO FINISH THE PROGRAMM AND REBOOT
( don't forget to end program by pressing space )
Copying of special files from "special DriverFiles" to driver folder YES
Integration of additional drivers in folder "extra Drivers" SKIP
Installation of (generic) drivers of class USB YES
Installation of drivers of critical classes YES
Removal of information concerning non present devices YES
Reinstallation of present devices of setup class USB YES
Reinstallation of present devices preferring generic device IDs SKIP
Disabling of all pagefiles SKIP
Disabling of auto reboot on system errors SKIP
Installation of the USBoot ARCguard WARNING!!! DO NOT REBOOT YES
Installation of the USBoot driveguard WARNING!!! DO NOT REBOOT YES
Installation of EWF filter SKIP
PRESS SPACE TO END PROGRAM AND REBOOT."
--a quote from NZ at www.911cd.net--
You are Finished when phase-III part two ends and wants u to restart, thats it you are done.
I would actually shut down and then disconnect my real hard drives completely and turn them off in bios, then boot from the usb with full XP.
From there its all up to you, although do clone the usb at this point or soon after.

Sorry for not answering sooner.
You would run USBOOT on the 2nd partition of the internal hard drive. The scripts will copy that small (3.5 gb) Xp to your usb drive.
